Since many years heat pipes have been established as an excellent thermal conductor. However, fundamentally heat pipes are unidirectional axial conductors which implies that in the absence of an additional thermal coupling element, it can conduct only in one dimension. At this position the new QUICK-COOL heat diffuser emerged which allows two- or three-dimensional heat transfer. Fundamentally a heat diffuser works like a heat pipe transporting heat through two-phase water to vapour cycle. Due to the evaporation of the working medium (usually water) heat is absorbed at the heat source and released again by condensation at the heat sink. Because of a cylindrical shape and small diameter of a heat pipe, heat transport is only possible in the axial direction. Heat diffusers on the other hand are “surface heat pipes” which can absorb heat anywhere and release it to the colder areas.
